Everyone’s situation and time horizon is different. Hope you made out well today and good luck to you for the future. Now respectfully and not to be argumentative, but only for the purposes of discussion... ...I'm simply not confident that this is a big settlement. Given what we think we know, it really shouldn’t matter. I see a number of ways that even a small settlement (under 1M or even under 500K) could benefit EDIG/DM’s overall strategy for the next and remaining infringers. Remember that the other companies don’t know the settlement amount either. Confidentiality benefits our side as well... perhaps even more so. Edig does not usually underplay its announcements. Usually? Maybe not in 1999/2000, but for the last 3 years or so, I’d say they’ve been very conservative in what and how they make announcements. Under WB this has been a noticeably different company in that respect. If it turns out to be a small settlement, it could be a signal that DM and Edig are not confident about the strength of the infringement claims and are willing to settle for nuisance avoidance. We still don’t know the settlement and I wouldn’t assume what the amount means in any case. DM is not an ambulance chaser. They got into this for the money and they waited a good long time before actually filing anything. If they weren’t confident, they wouldn’t have agreed in the first place or they’d have walked away by now. They’ve done their due diligence and they're not going to waste their own time. Those buying in anticipation that the results will show a major settlement may be correct and, if so, could be rewarded far beyond what I accepted today.
Again, try to understand that this is about so much more than THIS settlement - much like any company’s ultimate success is about more than a single product or business deal. Yes, it will take more time to completely unfold and nothing is guaranteed. But we’ve never had more evidence that events ARE UNFOLDING according to plan.
