Well, maybe not a great plan.
I will state it certainly seems like some entity has a buying plan with the increased volume. It is not nearly high enough to get overly excited about -- we need some of those 2M days -- but it looks like something is up.
As a libertarian (little "L"), taxes are not very high on my list (Gil, it will take longer than 2 hours and 2 bottles of good red to convince me, but I'm up for it), but here is what a few prominent Americans have stated:
Milton Friedman
Congress can raise taxes because it can persuade a sizable fraction of the populace that somebody else will pay.
