The Olympus D1000 Digital Dictator With ViaVoice & DSS Software

World's First Digital Voice Recorder

With Miniature Card Removable Media

Flash Memory is available in 2MB, 4MB , 8MB Cards

Olympus' new Digital Voice Recorder, the D1000, packaged with IBM's ViaVoice software, creates a whole new category of voice recorder. The D1000 combined with IBM's ViaVoice, and Intel's Flash Memory Miniature Card delivers a powerful solution for the mobile worker.

Users can dictate memos, reports, and other types of correspondences into the Olympus D1000 digital voice recorder where it is stored the Flash Memory Miniature Card. Once the audio is transferred to the PC, IBM's ViaVoice dictation product converts the recorded voice into text that can be edited, formatted and printed, just like any word processor file.

The D1000 will be shipped with a cable, carrying case, a customized version ViaVoice and a 2MB Intel Flash Memory Miniature Card and a PC Adapter Card. The removable miniature card and the Olympus PC Adapter Card (for PCMCIA slots) allows users to easily move audio files to a PC and conveniently share information with co-workers. The cable is for installation and enrollment of a customized version of ViaVoice. An optional Miniature Card Reader/Writer is available for desktop computer users.

User friendly, the D1000 comes loaded with many features including a removable flash memory card, over-write recording, insert recording and LCD information display.

Ultra Compact Design - measures a mere 4.7" (H) x 1.81" (W) x .091" (D) and weighs only 6.0 oz. with batteries.

Recording Time - Record in Standard or Long, by setting the REC TIME switch. STANDARD recording is 16 minutes with a 2MB card , 33 minutes with a 4MB card and 1:08 minutes on 8MB card. LONG recording is 34 minutes with a 2MB card , 72 minutes with a 4MB card and 2:28 minutes on 8MB card. If using ViaVoice, you must be recording in the Standard mode. The D1000 comes standard with one 2MB card. Additional 2MB ,4MB and 8MB cards can be purchased for increased storage.

Silent Compression Voice Activation (SCVA) - A unique silence compression algorithm is incorporated dynamically selecting one of two bit-rates, depending upon the incoming speech activity. This new SCVA will allow you to save additional memory space by coding silence at a lower bit rate.

Large LCD Panel for message and operating mode display.

Message editing made easy with three edit features; Over-Write, Insert, and Erase. Digital recording accommodates an Insert Recording feature not possible in analog recording. The Insert Recording feature is comparable to the ability to add text in word-processing software, creating a natural and efficient way to edit voice recordings.

The Erase feature allows you to erase each file, part of a document or the whole card. The Write Protection feature can be used for the entire card or for each file to prevent accidental erasure.

Interface with a PC with a PCMCIA card adapter. Files can be transferred to any laptop or desktop PC which has a PCMCIA slot. Makes e-mailing voice files a reality. An optional Miniature Card Reader/Writer is available for desktop computer users.

Fast-forward control will gradually speed up playback to 96 times normal speed, but will stop automatically at the end of the file.
