Panasonic Avionics Corporation, a provider of in-flight entertainment
and communication (IFEC) systems, has announced that Hawaiian Airlines
is installing its eX2 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system on ten
Airbus A330 aircraft.
Hawaiian Airlines' first A330 aircraft equipped with Panasonic's eX2
system is scheduled to enter service in 2010. The airline has also
chosen Panasonic OneMedia, an in-flight advertising sales service, as
an option for its eX2 system.
The eX2 IFE system provides Premium Class passengers with audio and
video on demand (AVOD) and other entertainment options on LCD10.6" seatback monitors, as well as iPod USB and audio jacks which enable
passengers to view personal media content. Audio jacks, USB ports and
LCD 9" seatback monitors are standard for Economy Class seats.
The system also provides shopping, more than 200 games, films and
television programming offered on a complimentary or pay-per-view basis
and one-touch communication with flight crew.
Financial details of the agreement were not reported.
