Jazeera Airways selects Rockwell Collins for avionics and inflight entertainment

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (April 25, 2005) - Jazeera Airways, the first privately owned airline in the Middle East, has selected Rockwell Collins to provide avionics and inflight entertainment on four new Airbus A320 aircraft. The agreement includes an option for four additional aircraft with deliveries beginning in October 2005. Jazeera Airways will commence services in October with flights between Kuwait and Dubai, Beirut, Bahrain, Damascus, Amman, Luxor and Alexandria.

Marwan Boodai, Chairman of Jazeera Airways, says, “Our priority is to ensure the best service from day one – our new aircraft represent our first step in delivering a new style of travel in the Middle East. The selection of Rockwell Collins as a business partner on this exciting venture means that Jazeera Airways has chosen market-leading technology to enhance our customer experience from both a product and a safety viewpoint.”

Rockwell Collins’ PAVES ® audio and video entertainment system will be installed on Jazeera Airways’ new aircraft. PAVES features an updated architecture and offers overhead video on 8.4-inch retractable monitors and 24 channels of high-fidelity, digital in-seat audio programming.

As part of its inflight entertainment package, Jazeera Airways also selected Rockwell Collins Airshow 4200 system. The full-featured multimedia platform incorporates a wide variety of capabilities, including 3-D route maps, real-time news feeds and points-of-interest media libraries.

Rockwell Collins’ GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver and WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Weather Detection System are included in the avionics package. The GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver is an integrated unit that provides the aircraft’s primary position, velocity and time reference and enables precision landing capability. The advanced MMR also offers instrument landing system capability and high-integrity, satellite-based positioning for navigation and future landing functions.

The WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Weather Detection System offers a fully automatic radar that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by reducing unexpected turbulence encounters. The MultiScan system provides optimal weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen by Jazeera Airways includes the ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Frequency System, CPL-920D Coupling Unit, LRA-900 Low-range Radio Altimeter, VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio and the VHF-920 Very High Frequency Transceiver.
