For an HDD you might want to organize at more than a linear structure even though this system can directory/sub directory and secure those elements as many as you like...this is where the Inode methodologies of Linux type os come in...by allowing the all inclusive linear abilities of the MOS file to spread out over many points....The Linux system would not have to track an know where every data segment is on the system with mountains of tables and pointers(strings) to do so. It ends up being a hybrid link list and Inode.....it could do the same for index tables such as FAT.
something like this:
If you have a stick..it`s linear..that stick is capable of many attributes security,directory,subdirectory...as many baskets as you like on it without the overhead burden of Inode or index tables .... how do I get more out such a capable stick ?
I use 50 of them....how do I organize the 50 sticks ?...I use a Linux type OS Inode table with 50 pointers...allowing me to go to any stick I care to go. The stick is still managed by what ?
The MOS has ability beyond the stick....ie: embedded device management.

However, as a new introduction of teachings in concept for the technology of e.Digital..their technology offerings are not as yet a prevalent force within their established discipline....Care should be exercised in research for investment purposes.
