I’ve been watching the PBS series John Adams about the events leading up to and after the American Revolution, “the times that try men’s souls”. There were significant conflicts between Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin and even George Washington. All wanted nothing but what was best for their new country but some large egos were involved. They worked it out and eventually came up with the best form of government even known before or after. The past couple of days on the Agora board have seemed to me to be alternately funny, disgusting, and silly. If we can approach building a country with different opinions we should be able to have a useful chat room that tolerates different opinions and different personality types. However I suggest that guns and egos be checked at the door.
