Good Afternoon Emma.
Let us clarify. When we disabled LawyerLong's account, we also discovered an alias. As we have found out from the member himself, the account had not been used; though the ratings were still on file in our system.
We have publicly apologized to LL and to him in person and we are greatful of his understanding through this whole predicament. LL is a big part of this board and what we did was wrong and we once again sincerely apologize.
Regarding users with multiple aliases.
It's a big issue partly because the website is so big. I can tell you that since the summer I have come across a few Hub Leaders who have created a secondary profile. Please note that this does not involve any member here. While we understand that those members don't mean any harm; in fact they admitted that they were just trying to make their indigenous Hubs appear more active (though the numbers we showed them from Google Analytics prooved the opposite).
Regardless, we also have come across a newly created member creating a secondary account. We typically warn the user and disable the secondary account.
Additionally, you will find the topic of multiple aliases discussed on the AGORACOM forum leader board. The discussion there covers most angles on the issue. If you do have any further inquiries I'd be happy to address them.
Thanks again for your messages and for your understanding.
Kind Regards,
Andreas Marouchos
