EDig loads content at their palacial headquarters in Poway. They load it onto ONE, that's (1) for those of you in Rio Linda, IFE unit which is then sent, carried, mailed, UPSed. FedExed, put aboard a user airplane at the local airport, to the offices of the using airline company.
When EDig sells IFE units to an airline they provide the airline with downloading equipment, which EDig trains the airline personell to use, so that the one master unit with the content can be connected to up to 98 other units in serial. The button is pushed and all the units are refresshed, loaded, whatever you choose to call it, by one person. EDig sends no people to the airline, the airline does it all themselves.
Even you has to say that's pretty smart.....
By the way just what is the advantage of having one company given a monopoly on IFE content again? Their ability to screw anyone they want to, give other IFE providers 3 year old movies while they keep the current one?
Works for me...
