Alaska Air get DOT OK to serve Mexico City (ALK) By Jennifer Inez Ward
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Alaska Airlines (ALK) Wednesday evening said that it has received approval from the Department of Transportation to launch service between Los Angeles International Airport and Mexico City. The company said that, subject to government approval, it will begin service on Aug. 2 with one daily nonstop flight and will add a second daily nonstop flight shortly after. The United States-Mexico bilateral agreement, which governs air service between the two countries, limits service on the route to two carriers from each country, Alaska Airlines said in a statement.
