You have raised an interesting question that I always thought requires an answer. This amounts to the following: D the goals of DM and Edig resonate with each other? Since RP has shown no interwest in answering this question only speculation may fill this gap and here is mine.
In the short run, the goals of both might be the same. DM wants quick revenues- based on inexpensive efforts- and so does Edig for all the known reasons. But once the short-run needs of Edig have been satisfied, it is reasonable to assume that the company would like to see larger settlements. On the other hand, DM may not be willing to continue on this road since settlements, unlike protracted court proceedings, may imply serious expenses conceivably in the millions with results that might very well be more uncertain. This presents a serious conflict in strategies between the law firm and its client.
It would be very interesting to know how the mangement sees this conceivale confrict of interst.
