"The acquisition marks a deeper commitment by Micron to move away from its semiconductor roots and more deeply into consumer electronics. The company recently partnered with Intel to build flash memory used in digital cameras and media players. It purchased Lexar, which also builds memory cards, and has recently begun manufacturing sensors for digital cameras."
