..and you drank the smart guy Kool Aid today. Agree with all.
I should add that China is not our problem. The fact is we want $5 underwear and $15 lounge chairs for the pool. China is just cheap. It is all the US service companies along the way from China get a slice of the pie...think about the container shipping company (FedEx does ours), port dudes that hold up the shipping, the container truckers who show up late, DC workers who complie store orders, the 18w trucker dude, the ops guy at the back of the store, and the retail rats. Lots-o-stuff happens to get you that $5 pair of boxers.
I just bought a USA made pool lounge chair from the Costco sample room and the dead cost was $74 as a factory rep sample. Yes, it is a better chair, but not $59 better than the $15 one from WalleyWorld...and I bought it at cost and WalleyWorld paid everyone up and down the line and STILL only charged $15. China is not the problem. Low price demand is the problem, if it is a problem.
The real ``problem`` comes when even the USA made product is poorer quality and the US biz model is getting eaten alive by off shore companies...hmmm, do you hear the Toyota / Honda train moving across Detroit?
When they make a really better mouse trap, we will really buy it, and in mass.
