Barry Golob practices in the area of intellectual property law and litigation with an emphasis on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition litigation. He has represented clients at all levels of litigation in various fields of technology, including computer software, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, office furniture, the Internet, insurance, manufacturing, LEDs and telecommunications.

Mr. Golob has handled complex jury and bench trials nationwide in both state and federal courts, and has participated in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution, including arbitrations and mediations. In trying these complex cases, he has been successful at simplifying the presentations of both law and technology to both the bench and to juries. Mr. Golob has also developed innovative approaches and strategies to resolve significant disputes to avoid costly litigation.

He recently led a team that defended a large construction company against patent infringement allegations by a telecommunications conglomerate relating to fiber optic telecommunications, securing a settlement prior to trial. In another matter, Mr. Golob was a key member of a team that secured a favorable settlement for a health care provider against patent infringement allegations relating to software. He also led a trial team in a patent and trade secret litigation, securing a settlement after prevailing in JMOL post-trial motions.

Mr. Golob was also an integral member of a trial team that managed a complex patent infringement litigation involving electrified office panels to form "workstations." The team secured a judgment of over $200 million, and also defeated retaliatory infringement allegations by the same defendant. The same team pursued other infringers and ultimately secured a total of about $300 million for the client.

A member of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association, Mr. Golob is a 1991 graduate of Washington College of Law of the American University and a graduate of the University of Miami (B.S., Chemistry).
