Message: And this is what EDIG

Hips....only on weekend call.

EDIG....my avenue to retiring 5-10 years early if we simply get to $1. So believe me, I want the best for this company. I'm 45.

SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) companies such as ClinicSuite, AthenaHealth and others are the future of medical software IMHO. The model is as follows:

User >> ANY web enabled device >> Access to secure site for constantly updating user-specific software >> People on the server side doing work for your practice that used to be done under your own roof.

My office recently let go of 18 employees in our billing department as AthenaHealth has "people" who do the same work, but with access to better information. Because of thousands of users on the same application, the "rules engine" built into the software allows claims to be paid cleaner and quicker. Many insurance companies have software solutions that have multiple layers, upon layers of patches to keep their system working. Sometimes even the insurance co. doesn't know why a claim is "kicked out" or not paid. Within their archaic software might be a rule such as the claim number needs to be preceeded by 4 X's. Unless this is known ..> unpaid claim. Hence the value of the "rules engine".

Anyway, the eVU beauty is the ability to load secure CONTENT for the user. No people on the other side. That was the meaning of my comment that entertainment plus/minus patient education seems to be the best avenue for the eVU within medicine. Military....not sure about this. Perhaps the military would feel better about having classified information on a peripheral than secured on the web. If someone tries to hack the device, perhaps it "melts" on the inside.

Wasn't trying to school you....but simply give an insight into the market. My opinion only, of course. We play for the same team.
