Your belief and $2.22 will get you a Venti Pike Place coffee at my local Starbucks. It doesn't matter what any of us believe; it only matters how many dollars change hands from defendants to EDIG and what FF and RP do to increase shareholder value.

Scenario 1: K&E were so destroyed by DM's effectiveness and the power of the patents that they rolled over and are paying $100M or more in damages. They couldn't take the chance on going to Markman against our arsenal of evidence.

Scenario 2: The patents aren't as strong or all-pervasive as we have been led to believe and DM took what they could get. Going to Markman would not have worked well for us and the patents are not worth what we think they are.

Scenario 3: DM doesn't really care as much about the ultimate value of the patents as we do and are taking what they can get without waiting for Markman or trial. Of course, if this were the case then why aren't they filing more actions?

Scenario 4: These are all tier one settlements, with more to come. And were never expected to produce the large sums that are expected from others further down the road.

Truth is no-one knows yet.
