Prior to our SHM 9/17/08, Samsung offered $26/share to buy Sandisk, an unsolicited offer mind you, when SNDK was trading for about $17. The bid was rejected as "UNDERVALUED." Read the rejection letter from the BOD on Sandisk's website under..NEWS.
For 7 years, ending 7/31/09, Samsung was paying Sandisk $375 Mln/year to license their IP. The buyout offer was rejected, I believe the 1st week in Sept-08, thus it was a topic of discussion at the EDIG SHM...PRIOR TO THE MEETING BEING CALLED TO ORDER..I was there. This is when RP stated, "we are not for sale for less than $21/share." I wrote it down on my note pad along with many other notes during the meeting, WHEN IT WAS OFFICIALLY IN ORDER. He said it...PERIOD. There were 6-7 Agora/EDIG members in that room 9/17/08, and not a single one has disputed my statement, made too many times at this point.
On 8/1/09, Samsung/Sandisk renewed the IP deal, for 7 more years at $175 Mln/year. Both 7 year deals are a matter of public record on both websites as announced by PR's.
If, as another poster said, "WHAT IF" ...I will leave it at that.
