All depends on how one sees the future of nonvolatile memory.

e.Digital deals with moving data at high speed off of nonvolatile, considered slow, trapped electron store memory...in combination with a serialized proprietary data orchestration on the memory. They eliminate a volatile RAM resource entity.

Rambus deals with volatile orchestrations....for capacitor based memory.

1. For e.Digital it's....store memory.....controller(e.Digital)propritary Page to....expensive transistor SRAM economically matched to the physical read /write of the store memory.

2. For others general it's.... Store memory.....controller status quo Shadow or page to.....considerably sized DRAM(.capacitor) to...controller to if warranted....expensive transistor SRAM substantially matched (L1 or L2 cache )

3. For others using Rambus....Store memory.....controller(Rambus)status quo Shadow or page to.....considerably sized RDRAM capacitor memory.....substantial SRAM cache is not noted for the high band width orchestration.

Rambus has a leg up on general, however, it is a volatile orchestration for status quo Applications and data considerations.

For e.Digital, the only volatile consideration is the economically matched SRAM for video/audio applications(which can be placed pretty much any where), working DRAM resource is not needed in managing the creation(writing) or playing(reading) of files. That said, RAM resource is not necessary in managing the store environment for any file type, however, depending on an Application, it might need a working RAM environment for the management of the Application itself and pass off results to the e.Digital zero overhead environment.

SSD's are the future....and one must consider that when evaluating e.Digitals ideas. Along with considerations of how general applications advance into a nonvolatile combination of main/store memory environment while tossing out antiquated methods. For now general application is managed through status quo considerations... It's only the beginning....will companies like, Intuit, want to take their general application on the road for those that do not want it on the Intuit server?

For now e.Digital owns concepts, with thorough management, of audio and video as Applications, for any a/v file type, under their proprietary structure requiring zero overhead and directly manipulated from the simplest memory architecture.

With that, they own the elements necessary, as an OS, for any file type management under their patented methods...it just a matter of them hooking up with Application developers to bring them into their environment utilizing what ever resources need to make it happen...be it Internet based, or physical considerations.

The future is bright....however, IMVHO....there is going to be tremendous consolidation to many facets of industry...just look around and witness it.

Investing in a company like e.Digital is one thing, however, it requires more than that, you need foresight beyond e.Digital.
