You've got it here in a nutshell. As what we now call "phones" evolve to become more and more like computers, i.e. handheld devices, and what we now call computers become more and more like phones, i.e. netbooks, and as data and voice are passed around in such a way that voice is data, i.e. VOIP, all the neat categories dissolve and the winners will be the ones who can position themselves wherever the action is.

I believe/hope that's what EDIG and DM are up to.
