Why not let Sandisk buy EDIG for 3 billion? Samsung may be making sure all parts of a deal secure before announcing something. I would think they don't want any competition to try to out bid them. On the other hand I know I wouldn't mind a bidding war. If there is a deal I bet that Samsung as preempted any bidding war somehow in what ever legal deal has been reached.
