The Rio / I-Jam etc were mp3 players only... 1 codec.

e.Digital created the worlds first Multicodec/MultiDRM Puck portable music player with a TI-DSP, they had three Intel people working in their offices at the time; we almost had a multimillion dollar contract with Intel to do huge order of players for them thru Easteck but Intel backed-out of the market.

Then everybody can suddenly do multicodec mp3 music players after mid 2000-01.

These facts are just icing on the cake to the scope of Removable flash memory and PC interfaces.
