By >DTSI) investors may be pleased to learn later today that a settlement between Zoran Corporation and DTS resulted in an 11 million dollar gain for DTS.
Buried in from August 5th is the following statement:
"During the quarter ended June 30, 2009, the Company incurred one-time costs of $11.0 million in connection with settlement of various intellectual property disputes." In looking through previous Zoran filings, there was never any other one-time settlement charges for intellectual property disputes and the DTS dispute appeared to be their only intellectual property dispute mentioned, so it should be assumed that the 11 million figure was all for DTS.
11 million would represent a gain of .64 a share, minus legal expenses which were 2.6 million or .09 per share in the first quarter. DTS announced the settlement on June 22 but did not disclose the settlement amount and whether or not it was a net gain for the company.
