Have no fear, the industry of selling enhanced GUI will be a standard has been not to profit from by anyone.....as will may other standardized considerations.

It will all be free before you know it....or close to it through competitive enterprise.

Lets be glad that e.Digital has the calling card up front to the industry that is not standardized yet....and when it is standardized....they have a backbone to sell into it.
