"It would be interesting to see if the the "Dropped" Patent in the Samsung case was the "Old" language 737, minus the word "Messages" which was added by USPO 1/19/010?"
445 and 108 were dropped from the Samsung issue...they are a seprate engagement.
In any event, you do inspire something of interest....not from the same prospective as you consider, regarding the word "messages".
"If indeed, 737 read "Method for Recording Voice on FLASH Memory in a Handheld Recorder"
My last printed copy 3-18-2009 reads ...."Method for Recording Voice messages on FLASH Memory in a Handheld Recorder"
==============================================================
WIPO reads "Method for Recording in a Handheld Recorder"
"This invention pertains to recording devices, and in particular to hand held recording devices that are used to record voice messages, where a switch assembly on a solid state digital hand held recording device activates a recording mode whereby recording of voice messages is accomplished.
"A solid state digital hand-held recording device (10) having a multifunctional switch assembly (30). A printed circuit board including a microcontroller electrically coupled to switch terminals operates to control the processing of sound into electrical signals and store said signals on a digital recording medium.."
IMO, of all the words that need to be dropped is "Flash memory" with regard to some of the claims of use regarding, Micro-controller, regulated switching, interface to ROM code, power management allocation....among others issues.
774 is a patent that covers Flash use for a device, IMO, subsequent descriptive considerations may not want to be as dedicated to one particular media.
