Just FYI -- Alaska Air / Horizon Air has been moving toward the American Air partnership program. Alaska does a lot of North-South west coast routes that American gave up as direct flights. Both airlines have been ``code-sharing`` for quite a while and Alaska probably found many more takers from their alliance with American than they did with KLM / Northwest.

At one time I flew a ton on Alaska (lived in SeaTac area), but always got the AAdvantage miles to use on over-the-big-pond flights. I think the Alaska and American partnership has worked out well for both parties since the 911 disaster kicked all the airlines in the teeth.

American also uses some of Alaska Air`s facilities for their profitable Seattle Asia routes. I once dreamed Alaska`s IFE might rub off on their friendly giant. The old big screen in the front and a few small screens on the sides just does not cut it any longer for IFE on American internatioinal flights, but that`s the deal today. One day they will upgrade to somebody`s IFE system. One day....
