Law enforcement has software, thru a process of elimination, can track a partial IP to a location, and do so thru the ISP.
But if you are a crook....
Example:
Person's 1st name is Bill (lots of us know each others 1st name right?) and states being from Lexington, KY and posts on 2, 3, 4 Agora boards using the same alias of BillyBob.
A computer wizard/hacker can run a match pattern, and thru a process of elimination come up with a location.
Law enforcement needs a court order to wire tap for surveillance purposes, or an arrest warrant, while criminals do not.
Ever heard of identity theft?
Unless this policy is dropped, you won't see a post from me begining 4/26.
I firmly believe Agoracom's intentions are honorable, and an effort at more transparency as a company, in light of current events, but; could there be a privacy risk?
