In any event....

The matter could be cleared up of how we(or a judge) interpret the meaning of the word segments in claim 6, line ( b)... patent 737.

"(b) marking defective memory segments so that the recording device will not record to said segments."

simple question:

RP...Does the word segments of patent 737, claim 6, line (b)...represent an erase block, or a read/write block?

If it represents "read/write block" e.Digital was saving the industry a bundle of space with regard to NOR matrix memory....because the arrays are very large.

If someone hands the question, I hope the answer is "Read/Write block"...and is a very important issue for them to get if they can get it.
