GPC Subsidiary Obtains Judgment against C-One Technology Corp.
Acticon Is Awarded Past Damages, Attorneys’ Fees and Pre-Judgment Interest
Suffern, N.Y. − July 28, 2010 − General Patent Corporation (GPC) announced today that it obtained a judgment of past damages, attorneys’ fees and pre-judgment interest in its lawsuit against C-One Technology Corporation − another victory in its patent enforcement campaign on behalf of its subsidiary, Acticon Technologies LLC (Acticon).
Acticon brought a patent infringement lawsuit against C-One Technology Corporation (C-One) of Taiwan in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (Case No. CV 07-04507). After deciding the case in favor of Acticon, the Court found the case against C-One to be exceptional and ordered C-One to pay attorneys’ fees. Acticon was also awarded pre-judgment interest.
Another defendant in this lawsuit, PTI Global, Inc., which is the successor-in-interest to co-defendant Pretec Electronics Corporation, settled in 2009.
“After obtaining over 150 licenses and settlements, and bringing 27 lawsuits since 1997, we’re winding down the enforcement of these patents, all of which have now expired. We have one more litigation pending, and once that case is completed, we’ll call it a job well done,” said Paul Lerner, Sr. Vice President and General Counsel for GPC.
