I don't really have a guess as to what new technologies could mean. It could be almost anything... related to flash memory somehow or completely different. I tend to think the latter - something truly new (and apparently patentable).
A partnership/collaboration seems like a reasonable bet. It could be almost anyone but if it turned out indeed to be Samsung... well, wouldn't that be a hoot (in addition to HUGE)?! If they do in fact have a partner of any kind, that would lend a lot of weight to whatever they're doing, especially if that partner has good name recognition (or any at all). It would be nice to have a major association again just to bring more attention our way.
I remain hooked on the idea that this isn't just something they invented first only to wait and see if they could sell it later. To be linked with business developments as it was in the PR really leads me to the conclusion that they have an initial (and possibly significant) deal done already.... or if they don't already have a buyer, they're pretty certain that they will shortly after they announce.
Like you, just the idea that they've been cooking this up since before February has really peaked my interest. What could it be... what could it be?? Hmmmm.
