Holy Po'pola.
RP being out is great news. It changes everything. It doesn’t invalidate my theory, but more importantly it may eliminate it. If it was going on, I always thought RP was behind it. One way or the other, Hoorah. I didn’t think FF had it in him, but always thought he was a good guy. I’ll probably get in trouble for this, but what the h’ll.
Okay why did Flashback fail? Flashback came out in ’94 with a lot of hoopla, deservedly so. I got one immediately. There was a serious bug in the S/W. When you powered down it acted like it was off, but it wasn’t. The battery would go dead overnight. I, and many others reported the problem. They eventually released Rev B, which they swore fixed the problem, but it in fact didn’t. They eventually released a written update that said “If you hit the Power Button twice, it would in fact go off”. This turned out to be so, but it was too late. They had lost all credibility in the retail marketplace. End of the Flashback story. As I said, it made Intel, Olympus, Sony, etc. very happy, but it didn’t invalidate ‘774. And, somehow they stayed alive, and more importantly, kept ‘774 alive as well.
One of you asked a good question, something like: “Did the original FB have an OS & File Management system?” yes, without question it did but, the difference between ‘170 and ‘445 & ‘108 is that any electronic device that has memory and interacts with the user must have an OS & FMS. ‘170 is unique because it is a truly innovative concept. No other Voice Recorder before ever before had editing features like a word processor (part of original FB), let alone recorders of all other types of devices that record about anything including voices/sound, but have RFM. This was all made possible by the advent of RFM, and edig was the 1st to realize it and patent it.
Stay focused on ‘774, because I think they now realize, with the advent of DM, it is the core of all what is happening. Without it everything is meaningless. I don’t believe we will ever see any meaningful eVu based patents. We’ll see. More importantly let’s see what tomorrow and the next day brings. I also promise I will get to the bottom of RP’s “departure”.
I’ll address the WSJ, Skip, and the rest of the story at a later time. You guys and gals wear me out. And, I have other things I must do.
Thanks
