SANTA CLARA, Calif.—SanDisk Corp. said Wednesday (Feb. 2) that it signed a patent cross licensing agreement with removable storage media vendor Imation Corp. to settle litigation brought by SanDisk against Imation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Imation will pay SanDisk royalties on various flash memory products, including USB flash drives and solid state disk drives, SanDisk said. Imation also entered into a stipulated judgment of infringement and validity in SanDisk’s favor on claims of U.S. Patent No. 7,137,011, which covers the use of certain encryption technology in a memory card, SanDisk said.
The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed. SanDisk said it still has two infringement cases remain pending against Kingston Technology Company Inc.
The license agreement with Imation settles two cases brought by SanDisk in U.S. District Court against Imation alleging infringement of flash memory system-level patents.
