CNN producer note

raqueln24 is studying to be a photojournalist and Redondo Beach is her former home city. She described the March 8 scene as 'a little eerie from the amount of dead fish, very quiet and shocking.' A crowd gathered and wanted to know what had happened, but police officers 'had no answers for the public.'

Thousands of unexplainably dead anchovies in King Harbor, Redondo Beach on March 8th, 2011. Police closed off the main area where the most fish were gathered, only letting in more police, media and enviormental care spedcialists. Redondo beach residents flocked to the harbor to take pictures and witness this unexplainable event, though one presumable guest did not show up, the birds. No birds came to feast on this buffet, only the crabs and the clean up crew were left to handle this graveyard. photos by Raquel Natalicchio
