You posed the following question:...
"would be very greatful for input about how a favorable markman could possibly effect shareprice in the shortrun?"...
Dr. Fred., (sman998), was gracious enough to post an article that dealth with how JURY VERDICTS affected a the share price of litigants...
To clarify, a MARKMAN RULING is NOT a Jury Verdict...
Although both have an impact on the share price of the litigants, but the impacts are totally different...
For example; Assuming EDIG gets a positive MARKMAN RULING, the case in Colorado is not finished. In fact the case is set for TRIAL for early 2012. It is only after the case is tried to a Jury that there is a JURY VERDICT ISSUED. That VERDICT would have decised the question of liability of defendants, and the amount thereof. Accordingly, you can see that a VERDICT awarding $850 million dollars to EDIG will have an immediate impact on the pps, even though the AWARD may not be realized for several till it has gone through Appellate proceedings...
On the other hand, a POSITIVE MARKMAN RULING in essence permits DM to bring in some defendants into Court and then seek SUMMARY JUDGMENT PROCEEDINGS against them thus speeding up the collection process which should affect the pps...
HOPE THIS HELPS...
