Jetstar Asia to start Kolkata-Singapore service from Friday

Jetstar Asia on Thursday announced that it would begin services to Singapore on August 18th with the introduction of three flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, making it the first value-for-money airline to fly between Kolkata and Singapore.
The Company said that, its first flight from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport will be Jetstar Asia flight 3K572, which will depart at 7pm and touchdown in Singapore at 1.35am the following day. The inaugural flight out of Singapore to Kolkata will be 3K571, leaving Changi Airport at 4.30pm and arriving at 6pm.
To celebrate the launch between Kolkata and Singapore one-way fares will start from Rs3000 for bookings made before July 31st and travel completed by October 15th. Every day low fares after the launch will start from Rs3600.
Ken Ryan, CEO of Jetstar Asia, said, “Singapore is a strategic entry-point to Southeast Asia for expanding Indian business. An increasing numbers of SME’s are building relationships between Kolkata and Singapore and with the benefit of everyday low fares we see that we can be a partner in developing business between the two cities.”
“Travellers from India will also have affordable access to destinations throughout Asia, including Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila and Taipei through the Jetstar Asia network,” said Ryan.
While positioned as a value-for-money carrier, Jetstar Asia has recently expanded its offering with flights now offering the digEplayer service which combines music, movies and sitcoms in each seat.

Jetstar Asia launches its inaugural flight between Kolkata in India and Singapore today, marking a new chapter in the airline`s expansion plans.
Jetstar Asia flies between Singapore and Kolkata three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Departure from Changi Airport is at 1630hrs, arriving in Kolkata at 1800hrs. The return flight from Kolkata is at 1900hrs arriving in Singapore at 0135hrs the following morning.
Fares on the new route start from S$218.
While Jetstar Asia aims to keep its prices low, the airline also provides onboard services such as the digEplayer service, an inflight entertainment player which combines music, movies and sitcoms, offered on flights to Kolkata, Hong Kong, Manila and Taipei at a nominal cost of S$12 per passenger. A wide range of hot food, snacks and beverages along with duty free items can also be purchased on board.
