But, getting a 'Trademark' is mostly just a matter of paying a fee and making sure the word or pharse is not being used.
Anyone who pays a $250 fee can be issued a trademark or copyright without actually having a product.
I have had several trademarks and copyrights. One was even for a unique name of a music player. I had thought I might be able to sell the name to a manufacturer. I do still own my Gateway player and Voice Recorder. It still works well. Its bulky and old tech and stores very little compare to the newer flash units. But, it actually got to market. I think the only other EDIG device that was actually produced was the Alaska Airlines Player.
You certain MUST request a trademark or risk someone else getting it before you. But the trademark does not add the slightest amount of credibility to the product.
I see little chance of EDIG creating a new technology. Any highly talented engineer or software developer is not going to work for EDIG imo. There are much better salaries and benefits paid by high tech companies.
It's nice to dream, but reality is where the money is. Reality is the patents. the USPTO, and DM. That is our best hope IMO. A hot product produces results quickly. If Nunchi is loaded on a server and can be demonstrated, we should have seen some news about it from a source other than a PR from EDIG.
It is not what EDIG says that matters. It is what others say about EDIG. DM has invested time and money. That is what can make our dreams come true.
When I see an outside knowledge source say Nunchi is 'state of the art' or 'slick' then I'll have some hope about it. Until then, it is just something management has dangled in from of us to keep our hopes up.
Good luck in 2012.
