If I remember it correctly, E-Digital licensed the voice recognition from Lucent at the time. Lucent also licensed it for some cell-phones , but it never really caught on. The big difference between from siri is that the voice-recog E-Digital used didnt need to send data to a server to respond. Siri no-speaky without network connection.
