What they did see was a huge market opportunity based on the concept of those patents for portable, flash based products.

Investors back then certainly saw the opportunity at hand and acted accordingly. There were plenty of winners and losers, not only from the investment side but also from the many companies that sought the golden ring, which Apple had the fortune to grasp based on the portalplayer touch screen interface, which they locked up from competitors for 18 months.

While most competitors faded, EDIG remained, and still remains, in the game due to their Flash-R patent portfolio.

The final word on that has yet to be resolved, but I would not blame anyone for taking a speculative position in this stock 12 years ago. It was a high risk penny play that had its day and remains in the hunt until stated otherwise.
