Duane Morris San Diego Office Adds Intellectual Property Partner Rich Kim

SAN DIEGO, June 7, 2012—Duane Morris is pleased to announce that Rich Kim has joined the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in its San Diego office. Kim's arrival further strengthens Duane Morris' Intellectual Property Practice Group, in particular with respect to patent procurement and counseling, as well as IP litigation. Kim joins Duane Morris from Morrison Foerster LLP, where he was head of the Electronics, Software and Telecommunications Patent Group in that firm's San Diego office.

Kim focuses his practice on patent prosecution in the areas of patent drafting, analysis and portfolio counseling. He also has significant experience representing clients in patent litigation matters, and was recently selected for inclusion in the 2012 editions of Best Lawyers in America and Southern California's Best Lawyers in the area of patent litigation. Kim has also represented clients in both ex parte and inter partes reexaminations before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as before the International Trade Commission.

Kim's clients include large corporations, mid-size and startup companies as well as individual inventors in various technology fields, including electronics, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, semiconductor manufacturing, Internet-based business methods and medical devices.

Kim is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California. Kim earned his J.D. in 1995 from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Dean's Outstanding Scholar Award, and earned his B.S.E.E. in 1990 from the University of California, San Diego.
