Galveston mayor as per plan has issued an order for voluntary evacuation and mandatory evacuation will probably go into effect tomorrow at 5:00 pm. The difference is that once you get on a designated mandatory evacuation road, you must stay on that until you reach the point of departure, in many cases more than 100 miles from the starting point.

Buses are being prepared to help those unable to leave on their own.

Some of my friends are in the process on boarding up their homes; many have second houses in the Galveston area.

This doesn’t look too good for the Texas coast.

Possibly another gas price hike, natural gas as well, most of the personal on the gulf platforms is being evacuated. Many were in the process of being repaired as the damage was significant from Katrina.
