A key point in Samsung's defense has been there belief that some of the technology that is in both theirs and Apple's devices has been around "for a long time".

Again a "Hail Mary" is that they might be referring to EDIG tech that Samsung purchased a licensing agreement WITH A CAVEAT. That caveat is that is Samsung beats Apple in court based on the purchase of and EDIG license, EDIG gets some sort of windfall.
