At 1st I thought that was a bit "lame" myself until I thought about it.
During the SHM, they discussed patterns of peoples daily routine such as jogging, walking, kids going to and from school via whatever mode of transportation, to point out the GPS tracking and notification feature. If a pattern is disrupted, a notification can be sent to the administrator (parent) with a location map. In the event the parent feels it is unusual and they are concerned, try and make contact.
The specific example was Chelsea King of Poway HS jogging on her path from Rancho Bernardo Park to Lake Hodges and back. Whether or not having a NUNCHI equiped smart phone could have changed the outcome we will never know.
The point they are making is safety.
