Jetstar Asia has announced a five time weekly service to Bangalore, making it the first value-for-money carrier from Singapore to establish links with the world leading IT centre. The airline also announced that it was adding an additional service to Kolkata, making it a four-time weekly destination.
While exact commencement dates for the routes are to be determined, Jetstar Asia are targeting for the new services to be up and running by the end of October. The Bangalore service will run with departures from Singapore’s Changi airport to Bangalore’s International Airport
“I’m delighted that we’ll soon be able to offer our passengers the Bangalore option on top of our additional service to Kolkata,” said Mr Ken Ryan, Jetstar Asia’s CEO.
“Bangalore’s business connection to Singapore is strong and travel demand in recent years has grown at impressive rates. We expect that with a new price and service position we’ll be able to attract the market and grow new ones such as the SME traveller to choice Jetstar Asia.
“With the rising wealth in Bangalore we’re confident that we’ll also appeal to travellers who would come to Singapore for long weekends or use the Jetstar Asia service for onward holiday destinations such as Phuket or Hong Kong,” said Mr Ryan.
While Jetstar Asia keeps prices low, the airline provides onboard services unmatched by other airlines. This includes the digEplayer service, which combines music, movies and sitcoms in each seat on routes to Bangalore, Kolkata, Hong Kong, Manila and Taipei at a nominal cost of S$12 per flight. Hot food, snacks and beverages along with duty free items may be purchased on board
