Apple is aiming to safeguard its products against theft with a built-in detection system, according to a patent application filed Thursday.

Dubbed an "acceleration-based theft detection system for portable electronic devices," the feature is meant to initate an alarm if a theft condition is deemed present, based on acceleration frequencies.
