I think Sandisk, as smart as they feel they are, should look at the future of CE and the question that student focused on and I'm sure they are.

It's amazing that e.Digital has not been taken out by one of the biggies...because, that students question was spot on. Sandisk lives on huge volume of flash sales stating "they owns 90% of the phone memory market."

Yet, its not enough volume and they have to produce MP3 players..etc in order to sell more memory. Look at the prices of these devices....they do not look to me to be anything significant to the Sandisk bottom line. BestBuy gets them at what wholesale price? Looks to be pretty Cheap just looking at the retail number. This is what keeps companies from venturing into that realm....Sandisk gives away the device in order to sell more memory.

IMO, the CE market will dry up along with the associated memory sales ...that, because of the to do all device/phone.....which IMO...will become modular depending on a need.

You may not want to pay the full tilt for devices/phone for children..though may are doing it.

However, you might like to have a device for your child that has an awareness ability and immediate recognition and interface to authority/parent through various communications. Issues that do not come @ a monthly fee of 60 bucks +. e.Digital can now, if they have the energy, market safety products devised for wireless broadband networks. Sandisk would not be able to do it, no one would be able to do it...hiding behind embedded memory or not.
