I overheard a retail database software salesman selling to retailer reps the other day and his company's moto is "don't be creepy", as in don't let the customer you know too much about them so that they become creeped out. Do you really want a Subway coupon as you approach the Subway at a mile out? Maybe your phone is aware that your tummy is grumbly.
