The vPod may run on a chip designed by a tiny Santa Clara company that has only recently gone public and has fewer than 200 employees.

The company’s had a bumpy ride on Wall Street because its fortunes are so closely tied to personal video players. Of course, this logic cuts in the opposite direction, too: an order for 5 million systems-on-a-chip for the vPod, deliverable by Thanksgiving, makes this a pocket-rocket stock. And even if they aren’t in the vPod they’ll be in the vPod knockoffs and wannabes. So either way, we win.
