I'm not saying that they are re-writting the metadata, it's just a thought.

Thing is, in creating the highly compressed metadata or "metadata bridge" as they call it, the legacy operating system that created the origional metadata, it would not be able to utilize it. Only VMware can utilize it, or unzip it for the origional OS.
