So we got an injunction against the use of our patents, but the defendant did not want to sign a license for the remaining life of the patents? Speaking of the patent expiration dates, don't they all expire in the next 2-3 years? So we got a judgment of unknown size in addition to some piddling attorney's fees. Does the defendant not need our patents anymore? Will they begin to use them again when the patents expire? Could they have signed a license agreement but it is not mentioned? Because different companies products have different uses and accomplish differnt functions I do not see how this ruling could be considered precedent setting--this process seems to be a case by case basis to me. The norm--more questions than answers. So the retired Atlanta Braves pitcher is now practicing law--probably another John Smoltz.
