It`s a throw away industry....when a component needs replacing.....they do not replace it...they replace the whole board....or drive...or powersupply...etc.

Why would the gaming industry (individual companies)want to be involved with paying salaries of IC engineers ?

It`s an off the shelf industry...of pre engineered components....like the computer business is.
