In software to share pool of SSDs
David Flynn, 44, was
ousted in May 2013 from Fusion-io, that he co-founded, being replaced as CEO by Shane Robison.
He has just formed a start-up,
Primary Data,
reveals The Wall Street Journal.
CMO of the stealthy firm is Rick White, also co-founder of Fusion-io.
On the web site of Primary Data, there is only one page with one sentence:"
This fall, the next phase of data center evolution is coming to a city near you!"
The idea of Primary Data, another one in software-defined storage, is to solve "
shared data" storage by software rather than hardware in an infrastructure, with multiple servers working on different OSs, needing to access to the same pool of SSDs. Installed on a standard server, this software gives the possibility to access to all stored data through an "
unified file directory namespace"
WSJ added that Flynn says:"
Primary Data, which has not yet raised outside funding, has relied so far in part on technology from other start-ups in the field that the company has acquired."
